Prof. Silvance O. Abeka is currently an Associate Professor at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology. He worked previously as a Director- Institute of Open and Distance Learning at Africa Nazarene University and also as a Dean- Faculty of Applied Science and Technology of Kampala International University- Dar es Salaam Collage. He holds a PhD in Management Information System (MIS), Masters of Science in Computer Science from University of Da es Salaam and Master of Business Administration (Information Technology) from Kampala International University. He is a dedicated and committed academician, and consultant who specializes in the field of Information Systems and Technology. Able to demonstrate strong Information Systems expertise from management, research, analysis, design, implementation and evaluation, case writing and full project implementation and management. Committed to the field of research and development with the aim of improving standards of information systems and technology adoption, diffusion, use, policy and practices through leveraging ICT in business organizations, government and other enterprises. His research interests include IT innovation adoption, open source software study, IT offshoring, Management Information Systems, Foundations of Network and System Security, Impact of Digital Technologies on Society, Networking Protocols and Topologies, Web- Design and E- Learning Technologies.
He has published widely in journals, conference proceedings and in books and sits on editorial boards of several peer reviewed journals. Prof. Silvance has broad corporate experience and is a Professional Member of IEEE Computer Society, Internet Society and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the largest association of computing professionals globally. He also sits in boards of several public and private sector organizations.
