Dr. Richard O. Magwanga is a Ph. D holder in crop breeding and genetics from the graduate school of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS), China. My research was geared towards unravelling the problem of abiotic stress, mainly drought, salt, and cold stresses, being the dominant forms of abiotic stress factors globally. The research work concentrated on the novelty of the wild cotton progenitors in broadening the ever-shrinking genetic base of the cultivated, tetraploid cotton species, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Kunbo Wang of the state-owned Chinese Cotton Research Institute (CRI), based in Anyang, Henan Province, China. Dr. Magwanga is also a holder of Msc in Botany with specialty in plant Eco-physiology, and a holder of first class honours in Bachelor of Education Science, with Biology and Chemistry as the main teaching subjects. Dr. Magwanga is also a trained national examiner of Biology Practical, KCSE paper Three.
