Dr. Matilda Ouma is a Lecturer of agricultural extension and rural innovations in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management at the School of Agricultural and Food Sciences at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), Kenya.

As an agricultural extension professional, Matilda has extensive experience in scaling of agricultural innovations through capacity building and empowerment of communities in sustainable agriculture and food security. She has participated in research and development projects aimed at facilitating smallholder farmers to optimize profits for their farm enterprises geared towards improved livelihoods. As a staff at JOOUST, Dr. Matilda served as Examination and Time tabling Coordinator for the school of Agricultural and Food Sciences.

In addition to her role as a Lecturer, from 2000 through 2024, Matilda has served as a mentor of the World Food Prize Foundation (WFPF) International Interns attached to “Push-pull” programme at ICIPE annually, which earned her “The World Food Prize - Inspiring the Next Generation Award” in 2023.

Research Interests:

Food security, Innovations for rural development, and Transforming Value Chains for Food and Nutrition Security.
