Joseph holds a master's
degree in Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga
University of Science and Technology (JOOUST). Additionally, he has a
bachelor's degree in Agribusiness Management and a Diploma in Farm Resource
Management from Egerton University. He is currently working as a Graduate
Assistant at the School of Agricultural and Food Sciences of JOOUST. He is also
an independent research consultant dealing in questionnaire design,
experimental research designs, data collection, data analysis, report writing,
systematic literature reviews, project baseline surveys, and evaluations. He
previously worked as a Value chain officer and acting value chain manager at
the National Potato Council of Kenya (NPCK), where he was in charge of;
planning, coordinating, and organizing marketing forums and potato field days
in potato-producing counties and conducting value chain analysis by mapping
various potato actors (farmers, input and service providers and market outlets)
in Kenya. He also oversaw the transition of viazi soko digital platform from
USSD to a web based digital tool to facilitate farmers’ access to markets and
farm inputs. He has training in; Scientific Data Management using R Programming
Language from the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in
Agriculture (RUFORUM) and Academic Data Analysts (ADA), Remote Food Security
monitoring and data collection from the World Food Programme (WFP), and
Systematic Literature Review and Meta-analysis from International Livestock Research
Institute (ILRI).
Joseph is a researcher with interests
in agricultural value chains and sustainable food systems transformation
through utilization of edible insects as food and feed. Currently he is working
on the mass rearing of desert locust for utilization as food and feed at the
JOOUST insect farm.
