OVERVIEW:
Description of the Programme:

This program prepares students to become science teachers with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and IT skills. Students study subjects such as biology, chemistry, physics, science pedagogy, educational technology, and curriculum development.

Admission Requirements:

a)Candidates must satisfy the minimum university entry requirements of KCSE Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) with a minimum of C+(Plus) in any two teaching subjects. OR

b) KCSE Mean Grade C- (Minus) plus a relevant KNEC Diploma or a Diploma from any accredited University OR

c) Holders of KACE with 2 Principal Passes and 1 Subsidiary. OR

d) 1 Principal Pass and 2 Subsidiaries.

Programme Learning Objectives (PLOs):

The program objective are:

1. To develop a deep understanding of scientific principles and concepts

2. To gain knowledge of pedagogical approaches and instructional strategies for teaching science

3. To learn about curriculum development and assessment in science education

4. To develop skills in using technology to enhance science instruction

5. To understand the importance of inquiry-based learning and hands-on experiments



STRUCTURE OF PROGRAMME:
Duration of the Program:

a) The degree shall normally take four academic years of 8 semesters.

b) Students shall be required to undertake teaching practice of a whole school term of 3 months during the 2nd semester of the third year of study.
